Horizon Sails cruising mainsail is custom designed for your boat and your sailing style. Well-built crosscut sails from the best sailcloth means better furling, smoother tacking and jibing. Well-designed cruising mainsails will bring stable tracking, allowing you to cruise with peace of mind. This allows more efficient sail handling and flaking too. Whether you are an offshore sailor, or simply sharing leisure time with friends, Horizon Sails cruising mainsails can take you where you want to go.
For performance-oriented sailors, Horizon Sails’ triradial mainsails offer excellent shape stability and minimal stretch. Thanks to the triradial cut, the fabric's fiber orientation is optimized, aligning the axis of resistance with the forces exerted on the sail. This design allows for the use of different fabric weights according to the stress zones. During the design phase, each sail plan is carefully studied to match the specific loads the sail will endure. This architecture not only improves upwind performance but also enhances speed and longevity. Triradial sails can be made from a variety of materials, such as woven polyester or high-performance laminates like Kevlar or carbon. These laminated fabrics often incorporate ultra-high-density polyethylene fibers, offering exceptional resistance to stretch, enhanced durability, and better abrasion resistance. Each Horizon Sails mainsail is custom-made, using high-quality composite materials such as DCX, CDX, PX Black, or woven Proradial. The fabric weight is precisely adjusted according to your boat’s size and your sailing conditions, ensuring high-performance sails that are durable with minimal deformation. Horizon Sails triradial cruising sail is custom designed for your boat and your own sailing style. Well-build main sail from best sailcloth materials mean better furling, smoother tacking and jibing. Well-designed cruising mainsail will bring the widest steering, allowing you to cruise with peace of mind. This allowes more efficient sail handling and storage, too. Whether you are offshore sailor or simply sharing leisure time with friends, Horizon Sails cruising sails can take you where you want to sail. Whether you cruise or race, the mainsail is the most important sail in the inventory. There are a number of choices for mainsails. To choose the right sail for your boat and sailing purpose, it is necessary to consider your priorities. If performance is your aim, maybe a radial-cut full batten mainsail with a decent roach, will be best. If convenience is more important, an in-mast furling main or semi full batten cross-cut mainsail, may be the right choice. The type and cut of your new mainsail can make your cruising faster and much more enjoyable. We are ready to build your new mainsail to your requirements and will take time to listen to your needs. Horizon sails are built with the latest woven sailcloths or cruising laminates. Your sail has to endure all weather conditions, so performance, strength and durability is crucial. If you are ocean sailing or on a long distance cruise, we can design your sail with extra details, such as stronger reinforcements, webbing in all rings, extra stitching, wider seams with stronger UV resistant thread. All Horizon sails come as standard with a leech line, to reduce flutter in the leach. The line is attached at the head of the sail and runs down to the clew. The leech line is adjusted with cleats at the clew and at each reef. Additionally, a foot line runs along the foot of the sail between the tack and the clew, to help you maintain the perfect shape in all wind conditions. On yachts with a high overhead boom, we can build the leech line so it runs from the clew, up the leech, through a block at the head and down the luff to a cleat at the tack, near the gooseneck. This makes adjustment really easy, particularly if sailing shorthanded. Fully Battened or Part Fully Battened Cruising Mainsails, High Performance Racing Mainsails, Mast Furling Mainsails, Boom Furling Mainsails. High Roach Mainsails. Square Top Mainsails for cruising or racing. Cross cut or Radial cut. All built with care, using top quality materials from the leading brands, to ensure you sail away with confidence.
