Storm Jib

“Big winds, little sails”

Horizon Sails Storm Jib is built to withstand the worst of weather conditions. Storm sail is important equipment for your sailing boat or catamaran. Whether cruising or racing offshore, no boat should be without this essential storm sail for heavy weather sailing. Build to suit every sailboat and catamaran, the storm jib is a irreplaceable piece of your safety equipment. We offer several type of storm jibs. You have large choice of luff solutions, solid hanks luff, luff tape or over the top of a furled genoa. So you can drop your genoa and hoist the storm jib, set the storm jib on a inner forestay or use our over rolled-up headsails storm jib. The last type is the easier sail to rig, thanks to its clever sleeve. This is likely the best solution for most sailors who mainly daysail or make short passages. Genoa Storm Jib is a type of sail that simply hoists over the top of a furled headsail. So the furled headsail doesn’t need to be removed. It can be hoisted with the spinnaker halyard or a spare jib halyard. By using a Storm Sail in heavy weather conditions the centre of effort is reduced and insures less heeling and better steering. Sleeve type storm jib for roller furled genoa eliminates unfurling, dropping and stowing the roller furling genoa and provides additional benefits over a conventional hank-on or luff tape storm jib sail. Hoisting over the roller furled sail results in better sail shape than a conventional storm jib hanked onto a removable headstay or a partially furled sail and also prevents the rolled genoa from unfurling. This sail is made with high quality orange dacron to comply with the offshore rules. The jib corners are reinforced and the panels are sewn using triple zig-zag stitching. Horizon Sails will build your storm jib to the highest quality using premium european sail cloth and hardware at highly competitive price. It is worth to check the boat insurance conditions. Many marine insurance companies do not cover the damage caused by heavy winds in case a storm jib isn't present on board.
